What flat rails do
A flat rail, or flat bar rail, is a steel crane rail with a flat upper surface and a rectangular or square cross-section. It supports crane or hoist wheels in light to medium-duty lifting, distributing wheel loads and helping the wheels travel smoothly with less vibration.
Cross-section sizes
Rail dimensions are stated as width × thickness in millimetres. Examples include 40 × 30 mm for small, light-duty applications, 60 × 40 mm and 70 × 50 mm. Rail selection considers wheel loads and the rail system together, rather than crane lifting capacity alone.
New installations and existing rails
CRANEX installs flat rails and repairs existing rail systems. For an existing installation, send the rail dimensions, photographs of the wheels and rail joints, and a description of the problem to help define the work required.
