Choosing a crane type

• Single girder uses one main beam with the hoist travelling beneath it. A common option for general lifting and material movement in factories.
• Double girder uses two main beams. Consider this arrangement when greater capacity, span or hook height is required.
• Suspension crane travels beneath the runway beam. The suspension points and building structure must be considered alongside the working area.
• Full or semi gantry supports the crane bridge on legs at both ends or at one end, depending on the runway and site layout.
• Jib crane serves a workstation or a defined pickup and placement area.
• Engineering crane is configured around the application and specific project requirements.

Information for the initial design

Provide the load weight and dimensions, lifting height, crane span, travel route and operating frequency. Factory drawings and details of an existing crane help the team review available space and equipment compatibility.
